The night he "practiced his whole life for"

It was a big moment!

We got a phone call asking us if Madden wanted to be the Screaming Eagles 7th player at the hockey game!

When I finally decided to tell him (which I wasn't' going to in fear he wouldn't sleep with excitement!), he just stood there in stunned silence.

What does that mean?

Well, you know when the starting line up comes out & lines up for 'O Canada', then a little Eagle comes out? Well, you're gonna be that little Eagle tomorrow (Friday) night!

Seriously?!

Yep.

Wow. I've waited and practiced my whole life for this! Remember when I was standing right there when I was two and you took a video of me doing this to O Canada?! Now I get to do it!

And so he did! With his favourite player, Jason Bell #4.

This month's edition of the Madden Gillis Hockey News

• Madden has just informed me he's a "STIPER" in hockey. I replied, "I think you mean 'sniper'". He says, "NOooooo. It's a STIPER cuz I use my STICK to score lotsa goals. I don't use my snick. I'm practicing..." ooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkk then...

• Madden was just watching the French CBC station. I asked him what he was doing,
  "I'm practicing. A lot of hockey players speak French you know."

Sticking your nose in hockey?

Last night the bday boy went to bed, happy as a pig in it...snuggled up in new pjs. He managed to sneak his Carey Price & PK Subban figurines in there... along with a Lego "puck"... because you know, it's all hockey... all the time... even when he sleeps. 
So, this morning, he comes downstairs explaining to me how we're going to have to get another TV so he can play NHL'13 on the Xbox "all the long day" (last night it was Eagles vs. Victoriaville in our basement -- he nearly lost his mind!). And then he sneaks in this little quip:

"So, yeah, there's a piece of Lego stuck in my nose."

"HUH!?! Are you serious? How? When?"

And he preceded to explain playing hockey in bed last night, when

"Carey Price missed the save and the piece of Lego ended up in my nose.."

Sure enough... a nice little yellow flower piece of Brenley's Lego... lodged in "the little hole part now" of his nose. 

Dr. Mom got it out... but this kid has no boundaries when it comes to his hockey, I tell ya!

Christmas Craziness...

Madden's Christmas celebrations began with a very excited little man getting to skate with the Screaming Eagles:

Then as Christmas vacation proceeded, there was a LOT of hockey playing, which was only enhanced by hockey nets as a present:

And then came the gifts from Santa:

And what about the gems out of his mouth?

• When opening each and every gift, "Oh WOW! My favourite! I needed that!"
• We were heading out the door to go somewhere & I caught him trying to swat a bulb off the tree with his hockey stick. "MADDEN! You can't do that!!!!" M: "URGH! Oh for Jesus, Jesus, sakes!"
• While watching World Juniors: "That was a Jesus, Jesus good goal!"
• "Mommy, Santa Claus scare the shit out of me!"
• He & Brenley were playing 'house' so I decided I'd make them a 'restaurant' lunch. They're sitting at the table, all dressed up as a mom and dad, and I brought them their orders - macaroni & tomato juice.LOL. I just got my butt back to the kitchen to get them milk, and he says, "Scuze me, Sir? Dis is too hot!" LMAO

And I'm sure there were others, but I'm at a loss right now...
