The Life Cycle of a Butterfly (copied from his sister's blog)

There was a lot of discussion yesterday after school. A lot of it had to do with me getting Kyle up to speed as to why Brenley was grounded from her iPad for the day. A full day.  (And I wasn't about to go through the play-one-parent-off-the-other game!)

Anywhoo... Brenley pipes up,
"Yeah! Well you treat me differently than the other kids in class!"

"No, I don't. When you're not paying attention or up and about out of your seat, I call you out on it just as I would anyone else in the class... Would you have done that last year?"

"... no..."

"The year before that? .... the year before THAT?!..."

Brenley retorted with the utmost disdain,
"... well, it's not my fault this is the year the butterfly decided to break free from her cocoon!"

To which, Kyle and I both rolled our eyes...
"Spare me!" Kyle said.

Then I noticed a snapchat coming in on the ipad & I may have threatened to read it, which totally put vinegar in Brenley's wounds and she stormed off to her room and slammed the door.

Little Mr. I-Love-When-My-Sister-Is-In-Trouble starts to sing from side stage:

"Butterfly fly away..."

Then as we're laughing, Madden says,
"WHA? Butterflies fly out of their racoons!"

Oh we laughed!

Madden's BFF, Siri

Mr. Madden loves the Siri option on his ipad mini. It's quite the love affair they have going on. Any time there's hockey on, the first thing he does the next morning hen he gets up is grab the ipad and ask:

"Siri, did the HABS win last night?!?!"
"I'm sorry, I do not understand what you're asking me..."
"Did the Montreal Canadiens WIN last night?!"

And Siri brings him the score. He loves it.

Conversely, he also asks,
"Siri, did the Leafs LOSE last night?!"
*notice the subtleties in the way the two questions are asked

However, yesterday may have taken the cake... picture him laying on the hardwood floor in the living room...After chatting with Siri for a little bit, I hear,

"Siri, did you know I'm a hockey player, too?"
"I'm sorry... what did you say?"
"Did you KNOW that I play hockey? I'm A HOCKEY PLAYER..."
"Sorry, I can't answer that right now..."
"SIRI, I PLAY HOCKEY. I'M A HOCKEY PLAYER."
"Sorry, I do not understand..."
"Jesus, Mary and Joseph..."

And Siri brings up this:

"MOM! Siri knows Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

School...

One word. So many options...

Let's sum up Madden's first 2 weeks of school...

First day:
Comes home, tells his father, "You should have seen **** (girl he has a major crush on) in her leopard print dress today!"

Second day:
"In music class today, we had to play an instrument and I had to stand up so I could beat my foot in time with the shaker thing so I looked real good..."

Third day:
Aside from the head lice notice, he says on the way home,
"So, I asked *that girl* if she would ask her mom if she could come for a sleep over... I expect her answer tomorrow..."

On the weekend, Kyle asked him who he liked better, Eugenie Bouchard or *that girl*.
"Definitely *that girl* cuz I get to see her in person every day and she knows me & I know her..."

He's also wondered aloud if Mrs. Pozzebon, his teacher, would be inviting him for a pool party...

Madden's Santa Letter 2013

November 23, 2013

Dear Santa,

Hi. How are you? I’m Madden Gillis and I’m 4. And I want for Christmas:
·       NHL 2014
·       A car thingy, like a Jeep thing.
·       I want a car road and some cars, like little dinkies like a car road. Not just a mat. A car road.
That’s it.

I love hockey. I want to try to be a better hockey player and make lots of goals. And I hope I will be a better listener. (Geez, he’s gonna like this one!) And I’m done writing about my presents cuz somebody else might get some presents for me. What?! People do that kind of thing.

I want you to have some chips and Coke pop when you come to my house.  Oh! And you have to take a bottle of Dad’s wine home to your wife. I hope you have a good time!

That’s it.

Thanks!

Love,
Madden

Too smart for his own good, in my humble opinion....

While playing in the living room we were pretty sure we heard a certain F word being uttered by his little voice.

"DID YOU JUST SAY THE F-WORD, MADDEN?!?!" Kyle exclaims

"I accidentally said the F word. But I meant to say I wanted a drink. I didn't mean it. I PROMISE...." and he continues, just to smooth things over, "And really, when you think about it, it sounds a lot like another F word... FART!"

Then he proceeded to explain the phonetics of both to Kyle. LOL

It's almost bed time. Taing do Dhia!

Think his quick mouth is gonna get him in trouble?

Madden had to go to Ma's the other day as I didn't have a babysitter.
Anyway... they had a great day. (see post below that kind of explains part of that)
But when I landed to pick him up, he got all feisty and cranky and cocky.
At one point he got mad at something Ma said and rifled a dinky at her, just missing her head & the TV.
She started into him...
MADDEN! DON'T YOU EVER THROW ANYTHING AT ME AGAIN. DON'T YOU EVER THROW ANYTHING AGAIN. DO YOU HEAR ME? YOU'RE NOT TO ACT LIKE THAT IN MY HOUSE!!!!
The little frigger stood there blank-faced... unphased... and retorted:
See that one over there (pointing to me). She's my mudder. SHE'S the boss of me! You're not the boss of me!
Which, as you can imagine... caused Ma to light into him again... even sterner... right in his face, finger pointing and all...
MADDEN. SEE HER? I'M HER MOTHER. I'M THE BOSS OF HER, TOO. AND THIS IS MY HOUSE. I'M THE BOSS OF THIS HOUSE..

And completely unphased... confident as can be, he interrupts her,
Has anyone ever told you you have a moustache? Especially right there on that side? (pointing)

I almost died. Ma realized that it was a no-win situation and gave up and started laughing, too.

I might give up, too!

Here's the part that I mentioned above:

So, Madden was explaining to Kyle how he was at "The Dome" yesterday. Kyle keeps saying,
"Where?!? Where?!" And Madden's trying his best to explain where it is by the "see doughs windmills" (aka CBU... which is also a dig at Ma).

Kyle pipes up and says,
"OH! The Liquor Dome! You were at the Liquor Dome!"
To which Madden replies... all annoyed,

"NO! There's no ice cream there!" LMAO

(Get it? Licker? Liquor?! LOL)

Analyzing from behind...

Last evening while we were getting ready to go to skating, I was walking in our porch to get Madden's sneakers. He stopped me, all of a sudden:

Mom! Mom! Stop!

What Madden?

How come when you walk your butt cheeks go all like this? [and he proceeded to walk with a deliberate arse wiggle from side to side]

Ugh. Little arse himself.

The things I hope will never go... but I know they will

I have to take a moment to record these little gems that are constants in conversation. These Maddenisms will be gone before we know it...

  • Lawn the Mow -- "Daddy! Thanks for letting me lawn the mow with you! That was fun!"
  • Trudeau -- "Where do Row and; Donkey live, Madden?" "Trudeau"
  • Falihax -- "Where was the motel where our room was right beside the pool, Madden?" "Falihax"
  • "When I was 6..." -- "When I was six I used to have a teacher called Campbell Campbell. She was a good teacher." (It's also the phrase used to introduce anything he's trying to be a part of and normally can't find any other connection.)

I'll keep adding to the list as more pop into conversation.

  • Is Daddy done swipper whicking?!? (whipper snipping)
  • URGH! You're just trying to accu-ate me! (aggrevate)
  • Where's the tee-mote? (remote... for the tv, of course!)

Now that he's talking... there is a bit more to post on here...

Now... I'm not sure if that's good, or bad, but there will be more to post!
Here are some gems from the past week.

We were waiting for Kyle to show up at the pool where Brenley's swimming lessons are. It was a really windy day. So, we were sitting in the truck waiting for Kyle when a gust of wind felt like it moved the truck!
Jesus! Jesus! It's windy in this trut!
Was what we heard from the back seat :(

---------------

Madden went shopping for groceries in Sydney with the babysitter this past week. She was telling me how he didn't shut up the whole way down in the car, then in the grocery store he was gibbering away. At one point she asked him, "Are you full of old rope, or what?!" He promptly replied:
No! I full of shit!
She was so taken back that all she could do was laugh and laugh and tears streamed down her face!LOL

---------------
Aside from his new favorite saying, "Oh God!", he's constantly asking "What happened?" which some people would say is better than 'why?' I guess. Except today, when we were leaving Burger King for breakfast he kind of took the cake!

Brenley was lagging behind in the washroom... taking forever. SLOW. When she and I finally got out to the truck he looked at her and said:
You pee, Benley?
Yep.
You poop?

LOL

God love him! God help us!
